'Sean Paul is the King of Dancehall' says Billboard, Vybz Kartel fans furious
Sean Paul is Jamaican dancehall, reggae, raggae artist recently dubbed the 'King of Dancehall' by Billboard Magazine. Fans of Vybz Kartel and dancehall in general are very angry by this statement by Billboard. Why this?, Vybz Kartel is one of the most influential artist and public figure in Jamaican next to Bob Marley.
While Sean Paul is just an regular artist to Jamaican's why is that? Well lets break it down in a few steps. Sean Paul is probably the only top of the crop selling artist in Jamaica to this date. In the mind of Jamaican's they never see Sean Paul in the streets or any local shows. Sean Paul was always the one transitioning, and finding himself take a look back at hits like 'Temperature', Got to LUV U, Get Busy, Never Gonna Be The Same, and we can continue sharing hits because that's all Sean Paul makes, not only hits but International hits.
Vybz Kartel is more seen as the King of Dancehall because he is more seen and stays with the people, never changing his way of life, not doing overseas shows, staying true to his stance making it from home. Vybz is more seen in the clubs parties so he knows what's going on what the people would love to hear and voice his options first. Kartel is locked into the streets and the Jamaican people everyday life, while Sean Paul is more like a ever growing artist, not limiting himself to just one genre of music.
Is Sean Paul the King of Dancehall or is it Vybz Kartel, even Beenie Man, Maybe Bounty Killer. Let us know in the comments below what are your thoughts on this?
