Joe also has another interest: reconquer Kelly Capwell, Channing's sister with whom he was engaged at the time of the tragedy. But five years have brought many changes in the life of Kelly: she is engaged to another man, Peter Flint.Joe is disappointed not to find her family the support he hoped. His father, John is indeed convinced that his son is indeed guilty of the murder of Channing and refuses to help investigate.
Channing's mother, Sophia Capwell also decided to make a comeback in Santa Barbara. She was the wife of CC Capwell but maintained there for years a stormy relationship with the sworn enemy of her husband, Lionel Lockridge. A storm broke out while she was on the yacht with Lionel and it fell into the sea. Everybody thought that Sophia was dead but it is disguised as a man today not to arouse attention she walks in the city.
Before dying, Channing had an affair with a young woman much poorer than he, Santana Andrade and this became pregnant. Channing's father, CC forced Santana to give up the child at birth. He arranged for a great friend of his, Stockman DeMott adopts the little Brandon with his wife Gina.
Santana's parents, Rosa and Ruben Andrade are employees Capwell for ages and Santana has established a strong friendship with Mason Capwell, the son of CC and his first wife Pamela. Now decided to get her son, Mason Santana begs a lot for accepting his help.
The worst enemies are Capwell Lockridge. Lionel father and his wife Augusta face a crisis when their daughter Laken falls for Ted Capwell, the youngest child of CC and Sophia.
Other couples are formed: Warren Lockridge, Laken's brother falls in love with Summer Blake's younger sister Gina DeMott. As for Danny Andrade, brother of Santana, he has an affair with Jade Perkins, Joe's sister.
Towards the end of the year, Eden Capwell, the youngest daughter of CC returns to Santa Barbara and a terrible earthquake terrible fires in the city. This tragedy cost the lives John Perkins, Joe's father.
